Social engineering attacks trust, habit, fear, urgency, or authority. The attacker may pretend to be support, a boss, a friend, or an institution. They do not necessarily break the system; they try to convince you.

Why it matters: Even good security can fail when a person voluntarily gives away a code, password, or money.
