Tracking pixel

A tracking pixel is a tiny element, often an image, loaded from a third-party server. It can report that you opened an email or visited a page. It is not dangerous like a virus, but it is useful for tracking.

Why it matters: In email, it can confirm that an address is active and that the message was opened.
